Hi, I'm Annalise
Annalise Kaylor is a wildlife photographer and conservation photojournalist whose work has taken her on assignments to 39 countries around the world (and counting!).
With an emphasis on documentary photography, Annalise’s photo and video work has been seen in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Audubon Magazine, and the Associated Press, as well as PBS, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Great Big Story, and the Discovery Channel. She also partners with NGOs and Non-profits, including The Nature Conservancy, charity:water, and Habitat for Humanity International.
Annalise’s work has been exhibited in galleries throughout North America, South America, and her photographs are part of the permanent collections of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library, the World Health Organization, and the United Nations. Her photography is part of the year-long Planet Ocean exhibit at Gasometer Oberhausen in Germany.
Annalise is the co-creator of the PhotoWILD podcast, which braids together the art and science of wildlife photography, and a writer for the publication of the same name. When not hunkered down in her floating blind, leading photography workshops, or working behind the lens, Annalise can be found birdwatching, hiking with her dog Susan, kayaking, and playing strategy board games (Wingspan, anyone?).
What's In My Bag
I am a Sony Professional using the Sony a1 and 400mm f/2.8 GM lens as my primary camera setup for still photography and FX6 for video work. You can read more in-depth over on the Sony Alpha website feature about me, my work, and my Sony kit.
Artist Statement
Everything is extraordinary if you’re curious enough.
Photography is my reflection on what it means to be human, shaped by a planet that is more alive and more complex than we often appreciate. The connections we see—between predator and prey, land and water, growth and decay—are mirrors of our own interdependence. These glimpses of the wild are both familiar and otherworldly, reminding us of our shared inheritance with everything living.
Photography allows me to document intricate ecosystems, examine behavior, and highlight the urgent need for conservation. Yet it is also a creative act—an exploration of light, texture, and emotion. Art and science, often cast as opposites, are in fact symbiotic here. Together, they deepen understanding and stir connection, working harmoniously to capture both the facts and the wonder of the natural world.
My work seeks to inspire stewardship for the natural world while offering a reminder: we belong to it as much as it belongs to us. Every image is a reminder that we are not separate from nature but deeply intertwined with it.
The wild is endlessly generous, offering lessons about vulnerability, resilience, and belonging. To be curious and pay attention is to remember: our natural world, in all its forms, is a gift deserving of our reverence and protection.
